These Brooks paintings tell familiar stories in less-than-familiar ways. Some of the titles – Manscaping With Mother Nature, Foodface, Till Death Do Us Part, Lyndie Lou, and Trimming the Hedge – give us clues, but as the artist explains, a lot of the enjoyment of his work is in the mystery.

The images towards the end of this selection become progressively darker, treading the edges of BDSM and sexual violence.
