Corydon and Alexis

Marco Zagato’s artworks based on classical themes explore the emotions of voluptuous attraction, seduction, charm, the pleasure of the ‘amorous senses’, the festivities, the joy, the grace, the beauty and the sex – in short the erotic exchange between men.

As Zagato explains, ‘I wanted to go beyond what had already been expressed in a fairly comprehensive manner by neoclassical artists. By using a new approach to mythological allegories and the representation of historical figures in a traditional style, I wanted to portray how it is possible to incorporate newfound freedoms to show true interactions between gay men.’
