Première escapade du Prince Eversharp – there never was a deuxième – is a beautifully executed and witty portfolio of elephant-trunk-like penises frolicking their way through a lover’s dreams and nightmares. The obvious fact that the male members in question are exactly the opposite of sharp adds yet another dimension to the artist’s effort to confuse, and even the titles are carefully thought out, leading us to expect a more conventional treatment of the regularly-used titles.

A notable feature of the prints in this portfolio is the expert use of colour, some using as many as eight carefully-registered plates. We are clearly looking here at the work of a trained and experienced artist.

The titles of the plates are:
1   Sauve qui peut (Take Care of Yourself)
2   Demande et consentiment (Request and Consent)
   3   Vol nuptiale (Nuptial Flight)
4   Carnaval à Venise (Venetian Carnival)
5   Tour penchée à Pise (cauchemar) (The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Nightmare))
6   Vision antique à Rome: Danaë (An Antique Vision in Rome: Danaë)
7   Triton et Néréïde (Triton and Nereid)
8   Veder Napoli e poi morir (See Naples and Die)
