A Mama Meg a Lanya (Mother and Daughter) is Székeley’s take on the perennial theme of a prostitute mother training her female offspring the tricks of the trade, a theme best-known from Pierre Louÿs’ 1910 novella Trois filles de leur mère (Three Girls and Their Mother), a story with which Székely would have been very familiar.
