Ravens are one of Bodo Klös’s leitmotifs, non-human entities who stand slightly apart from the strangeness of their human counterparts and wonder. In 1997 Edition Noir (run by Bodo’s wife Birgit) published Der Rabe (The Raven), a limited-edition picture book with 140 colour illustrations and a real raven feather inset into the title page.

Der Rabe proved very successful, and further editions were published in 2000 and 2005.

Few of the raven images could be said to be particularly erotic apart from these few; the last is the raven equivalent of ‘Your place or mine?’.
