Wood had been producing marginally erotic art since the 1950s, but it was in the mid-sixties (and maybe not uncoincidentally around the time he met and married fellow illustrator Tatjana Wood) that his erotic imagination started to blossom. In 1965 he produced the Marquis de Sade Coloring Book for Laff magazine, then in 1965–7 these four strips for Cavalcade. Unfortunately Cavalcade ceased publication before the promised fifth tale of ‘The Three Bares’ saw the light of day; whether it ever existed we shall never know.
