Part of Verlaine’s notorious Oeuvres libresLes amies (The Friends) is a set of six poems on lesbian themes – ‘Sur le balcon’, ‘Pensionnaires’, ‘Per amica silentia’, ‘Printemps’, ‘Été’, and ‘Sappho’. Now experimenting with three-colour woodcuts in shades of bistre, Daragnès produced another set of his trademark strikingly bold images.

The edition consisted of 250 copies, published ‘Aux dépens d’un groupe d’amateurs à l’enseigne de la Guirlande, Bayonne’ (Published on behalf of a group of amateurs at the sign of the garland). Again privately published, it is known that Daragnès publisher colleague Marcel Seheur was involved in this edition.
