‘Stars Above, A Dance Below’, 2020

Like his drawings, though usually more thoroughly imagined and composed, Mark Price’s paintings explore a world as it might be if we were free to explore our bodies and our sexuality. ‘I am not so much interested in the politics of the new socialisation of queer, or the creation of an art that establishes and legitimises our way of life in the early stages of this brave new world we are slipping and sliding into. I am more interested the psychology of weird sex, homosexuality, polyamory and androgyny. My art seeks to captivate the spirit of androgyny in us, the two-spirit aspect of sexual ambivalence, an inner necessity in some of us that needs artistic and sexual expression.’
