Jürgen Görg’s zodiac series is a twelve-part suite of astrological signs created between 2011 and 2013. Rather than using traditional, literal representations of the astrological symbols, Görg reinterpreted the zodiac through his trademark sensual, classical, human-centric style. Each piece is an original etching or stone lithograph printed on archival paper, which Görg then meticulously hand-tinted with subtle colour washes.

Görg's reinterpretation of the zodiac rests on a small set of recurring devices rather than twelve unrelated inventions. Most signs are given not a single figure but a doubled or echoed one – confronting profiles in Aries, an embracing pair in Virgo and Libra, overlapping repeated forms in Sagittarius, and Gemini is distinguished by a further multiplication into three or four overlapping figures. Where a plate does resolve into a single dominant body, as in Taurus, the figure carries a classically weighted pose.

Alongside this human vocabulary, Görg consistently introduces the sign's literal creature or symbol. Ram heads adorn the edges of Aries, a bull’s head recurs in Taurus, a scorpion crawls in Scorpio, a goat’s horns frame Capricorn, and fish circle the lower corners of Pisces. Themes are extended by small details worked into the compositions – wine bottles and glasses for Taurus and Leo, a ladder and scales for Libra, chains for Cancer, a bow and quiver for Sagittarius. The colour palette adds subtle distinctions to the series – Libra is washed in olive-yellow, Pisces and Aquarius are cool and blue, in Aries  a warm rust runs through the horns and hair.

The series relies heavily on Görg's signature aesthetic – youthful bodies, sweeping fluid lines, soft palettes, dreamlike figures with closed eyes. Because they are hand-coloured, no two prints in the edition are completely identical.
